Jo Haigh Teams Up With Iod To Share Secrets To Business Survival

16 January 2009

The Institute of Directors (IoD) in Yorkshire is hosting an event with former Yorkshire Business Woman of the Year, Jo Haigh, to discuss how business leaders can successfully surmount the challenges that they face in the workplace and advise of proactive solutions.

The evening discussion, to be held at Cutlers Hall in Sheffield on Thursday 19th February, is the first in a series of events hosted by the IoD in association with Vodafone. Guest speaker Jo Haigh will lead the debate which will be based on her latest sell-out business survival guide 'Tales from the Glass Ceiling'.

Partner and head of corporate finance for MGR and an award winning entrepreneur and trainer, Jo will share stories from her 20 year career, which has seen her buy and sell over 300 companies, hold numerous non-executive roles in companies across the Yorkshire region and helped many businesses through successful transactions.

Jo will also reveal details of interviews completed with 100+ entrepreneurs and celebrities, including fitness expert Rosemary Connelly, Group HR Director of 3i, Denise Collins and Rolline Frewen, managing director of the Admirable Crichton, events organisers for high profile brands including Sunseeker, Chanel and Cartier.

Comments Jo: "The discussion will be especially pertinent in the current climate where all businesses are experiencing fresh challenges.  By highlighting the key issues faced by companies and offering solutions I am hoping to inspire Yorkshire's leaders to further success and encourage companies to rethink their approach to this essential facet of their business."

Adds Richard Wagstaff, chairman of the IoD in South Yorkshire: "Jo's success as an entrepreneur and dealmaker speaks for itself.  This is an excellent opportunity for business leaders and those climbing up the corporate ladder to learn from the experts and to get answers to the questions that are most important to you."

The event is the first in a series of IoD seminars sponsored by Vodafone. Maria Fernandez, marketing manager at Vodafone comments: "Vodafone has committed itself to creating effective solutions to the key issues facing people in the modern workplace, such as flexible working and achieving a good work/life balance.  The ethos of Jo's latest publication certainly echoes our outlook and we are happy to be offering our support to what will be a useful and informative seminar."
