Liverpool To Get Out Its Goosebumps For January Swimwear Contest

12 January 2009

easyJet, the UK's largest airline, is on the lookout for Liverpool's coolest - and bravest - guys and girls in an attempt to get rid of the city's goosebumps.

With no end in sight to the current freezing temperatures, and with 2009's dose of January Blues already being made more acute by the economic big freeze, easyJet is looking to provide a ray of sunshine to one of its favourite cities.

The airline wants to send one lucky person - with three of their family or friends - on a week-long holiday to Liverpool's favourite sunshine getaway, Malaga.

But before giving away the prize, the airline wants to see how badly Liverpudlians want a week in the sun by asking them to get out their goosebumps in a special swimwear contest live in Liverpool city centre - in January!

Carly Brear, easyJet's UK commercial manager, said: "The January Blues have hit everyone particularly hard this year, and for most people, it feels like a long time until we can get our bikinis and swim shorts out again.

"But just because the weather - and the economy - are freezing this January doesn't mean we can't dig out our swimwear and have a bit of fun - and no city knows how to have fun more than Liverpool.

"If people are brave enough to fight the frost in January, then at least one of them deserves to be rewarded with a holiday in the sun."

To that end, the airline has teamed up with Radio City 96.7 to find the city's coolest - and coldest - men and women to take part in a live swimwear contest in the heart of the city centre on Sunday, January 25.

To take part, they must first upload a photograph of themselves in their swimwear - preferably somewhere cold - to the Radio City website.

Those selected to take part in the final will then battle it out in a live catwalk competition hosted by Radio City DJ Claire Morrow, dressed only in their swimwear, outside in Liverpool ONE on one of the coldest days of the year.

One lucky winner will be jetting off with three of their family or friends and £500 spending money for a week-long break in the Spanish sunshine.
