Sarah Gets Rid Of Her Goosebumps In Easyjet Swimwear Contest
26 January 2009
A Liverpool office worker has won a holiday for four to Malaga after baring all as part of a unique swimwear contest held at Liverpool ONE.
Sarah Dunn, from the Kirkdale area of the city, won the sunshine break after seeing off competition from 11 other men and women from across the North West in a special contest held in Liverpool city centre.
Having only entered "for a laugh," the 22-year-old said that despite the cold it was worth taking part in the competition - braving temperatures of just 6C while dressed only in an orange easyJet bikini - to win the holiday.
She said: "It was freezing cold, but lots of fun and I'm just so relieved that it was all worth it.
"It's great to be able to escape to somewhere nice and sunny and get away from this freezing weather in Liverpool.
"As soon as I heard about the competition, I thought it sounded like a bit of a laugh, and I'm made up that I've won. "It wasn't easy stripping down to my bikini in that cold weather, but now I can look forward to a nice week with my husband and mates in Malaga to get warm again."
easyJet, the UK's largest airline, joined forces with Radio City to look for Liverpool's bravest guys and girls to get out their goosebumps and take part in a special swimwear contest in Liverpool ONE on Sunday.
After selecting 12 finalists from the scores who entered via the Radio City website, Sarah was one of eight women and four men who went head to head in games of musical statues, hula hoops and limbo dancing - all while dressed in no more than their swimwear.
Having seen off most of the finalists with her skills in treasure hunt and musical bumps, Sarah was finally chosen as the winner by hundreds of city centre shoppers not based on their beach bodies, but on how closely she matched easyJet's values of being fun, bubbly and up for a laugh. Louise Osler, 18, from Hoylake, Wirral, came second, while 21-year-old Robert Black, from the city's Norris Green district, finished third.
She will now fly off to Malaga with her husband and two friends - and £500 spending money - to spend a week in the Spanish resort of Malaga, Liverpool's favourite sunshine destination.
Carly Brear, easyJet's UK commercial manager, said: "No city knows how to have fun quite like Liverpool, so we knew we had to raise our game to come up with something a bit different here.
"Thankfully, the idea of getting people to brave the cold and get out their goosebumps to win a holiday clearly caught on and we thought all 12 finalists had a lot of fun and really helped lift people's spirits on a bitterly cold Sunday afternoon.
"Congratulations to Sarah. After seeing them bare their goosebumps and entertain a cold Liverpool crowd she really deserves a week in the sunshine".
The competition, which was hosted by Radio City presenter Claire Morrow, marked 10 years of easyJet flights from Liverpool to Malaga.
