Diamonds Are Still A Girl’S Best Friend

When asked to choose between diamonds or the latest designer handbag, 85 per cent of women questioned still would prefer diamonds every time.

 

The survey, organised by Girls' Day Out, also revealed Cheryl Cole was seen as the ideal companion for a girls' day out, and the majority agreed they would like most to have the X Factor judge and Girls Aloud beauty's designer wardrobe.  

 

Mascara was voted the ultimate must-have beauty product that women couldn't live without, and most would even sacrifice chocolate if it meant that they could buy an A-list designer handbag or pair of catwalk strutting shoes. 

 

The Girls' Day Out survey highlighted that despite the recession, most women in Scotland are still spending as much on shopping and beauty products as before.  

 

It would seem that women are still being secretive about their shopping habits with their partner - a staggering nine out of 10 women confessing that they regularly cut the labels off new purchases, hide the receipts or lie to their partners about having had the item 'for ages.' 

 

The survey, commissioned to mark Girls' Day Out - the ultimate women's lifestyle event taking place at the SECC from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th October 2009 - highlights Scottish women's passion for fashion, beauty and wellbeing. 

 

Tom Lovering, event director of Girls' Day Out, said: "The results of our survey really didn't surprise us, we know that Scottish women are ?ber stylish and very fashion conscious, so it was no surprise that spending throughout the recession has barley been affected.

 

"Girls' Day Out aims to bring together everything that our survey has revealed that women want.  It came as no surprise that Audrey Hepburn is still viewed as the ultimate timeless beauty, no matter how fashion conscious women are, they will always appreciate classic beauty that will see them from season to season."

Girls' Day Out will showcase the very best of fashion, beauty, health and lifestyle for women with more than 100 exciting exhibitors including Fake Bake, House of Fraser, Princes Square, Cameron House, St Andrews' Old Course Hotel, Vivienne Westwood, Cruise and Clinique.

 

With organisers expecting an estimated 15,000 visitors, they are advising people to pre-book tickets for the exhibition.
