Middlesbrough Retail Manager Receives National Recognition
30 October 2009
A Middlesbrough store supervisor has been hailed as 'Employee of the Year' at a prestigious national awards ceremony.
Denise McDougall, pledge supervisor at Herbert Brown on Newport Road, was recognised for her 40 years of dedicated service to the pawnbroking industry at the National Pawnbrokers Association Awards, held at the Lancaster Hotel in London.
Ms McDougall's strong entry, a combination of testimonials from her colleagues and customer recommendations, fought off tough competition from nationwide industry nominees to claim the coveted prize.
Rod Mason, managing director of Herbert Brown says: "At Herbert Brown we are very proud of our reputation for excellent customer service and this is entirely thanks to the dedicated, professional manner of our staff. Denise is a fantastic ambassador for the company - to win industry-wide recognition is no mean feat and I warmly congratulate Denise on her award."
Ms McDougall adds: "I am delighted to have received this award - the Middlesbrough store has enjoyed a very rewarding year and this title is the icing on the cake.
"It's fantastic to be recognised for doing something that you enjoy and I really enjoy working for Herbert Brown! I have made some very good friends during my time with the company - part of the pleasure of working there comes from the family-like atmosphere; the people I work with aren't just colleagues, they have become lifelong friends and I'm pleased to be part of such a great team.
"I would like to thank the team for all their hard work and support and look forward to continuing our success in 2010."
Herbert Brown, which was crowned Employer of the Year for the second year running by the National Pawnbrokers Association, currently has 30 stores across the country and is one of the largest pawnbroking and retail jewellery chains in the UK. The business has recently unveiled an extensive recruitment drive and expansion plan following the strongest period of trading in its 169-year history.
