Beattie Communications has been appointed as Huggies new PR agency following a competitive six-way pitch.

Winning the six-figure account from incumbent agency Biss Lancaster, Beattie is due to start work on the UK's number two nappy brand in February.

Beattie Communications group managing director, Laurna Woods, comments: 'This is major coup for us and we are delighted to be adding Huggies to our fast-growing consumer portfolio. The account will be managed from our London office with support from our network of regional offices as required.

'We have a wealth of experience in this area and can't wait to get the ball rolling on this exciting new account.'

Part of the global Kimberly-Clark group, the Huggies brand was launched in the UK in 1996 and currently sells nearly 50 million packs of nappies, nappy pants, pants and wipes in the UK each year.

Amanda Redman, UK Marketing Director for Personal Care at Kimberley Clark said: 'We are very excited about working with Beattie across the range of Huggies baby products. We have been particularly impressed with their integrated approach to on and off-line campaigns, and their overall digital marketing capability.'
