2010 - Year Groomzilla
Tuesday, 27 April 2010
'Groomzillas' are due to take over this wedding season- as women hand over the reins of wedding organisation.
Grooms to be are increasingly handling wedding arrangements, according to a national survey carried out by tourism and hospitality website www.iknow-uk.com.
85% of men questioned said that they are the more organised, defying 'bridezilla' stereotypes. Male respondents also said that they are more likely to have all arrangements in place in half the time due to using time-effective sources such as the internet.
Marcus Simmons, iknow-uk.com's managing director, said: "It seems that after so many generations, men are finally stepping up to the plate and organising their own weddings."
"Organising a wedding doesn't have to be a headache. We have a wide choice of unique suppliers and venues on our websites which cater for wedding requests; some even arrange the whole event for you - including a honeymoon!
"I'm actually a groomzilla myself as I organised my own wedding through one of our customers four years ago. Grathwaite Hall Holiday Cottages accommodated all our friends and family, whilst organising the venue, entertainment and food - it took all the hassle out of planning and made everything so much more enjoyable!
"Many of the men we questioned also admitted that they had to battle with their brides-to-be to gain control of their wedding plans - and the rise of online bookings means that men are happy to take the lead, as they can make most of the arrangements without even leaving the front of the TV!"
