Almond Catering Invests 500K For Flagship Facility West Lothian Business

Friday, 03 April 2009

Almond Catering, Scotland's largest independent contract caterer, has invested £500K in state-of-the-art facilities at The Pyramids Business Park in West Lothian, dramatically transforming the service and food offer available.

The substantial investment will see the company launch its first flagship restaurant after undergoing a complete overhaul of the kitchen and front-of-house facilities, creating a more contemporary layout, design and greater food offer for the 1500 staff on site.

Boasting a whole host of improvements, the facility features new hot food counters offering a variety of choices, a chilled Grab 'n' Go section, hot Panini and deli area, as well as the introduction of a branded Costa coffee zone complete with comfortable seating.

The investment highlights the company's commitment to improving standards in catering, meeting 21st century customer and business needs.

Alan Aitken, managing director of Almond Catering, said: "This investment allows us to showcase exactly what we are about - providing top quality food and unrivalled service in pleasant and modern surroundings.

"The new restaurant will offer a fantastic place for staff and visitors to retreat to at any time of the day, whether grabbing a quick coffee at breakfast from Costa or choosing to get a healthy lunch cooked 'theatre style' in front of one of our highly trained chefs.

"We aim to offer a superb choice and I'm confident our new-look restaurant and facilities will appeal to current employees and visitors alike."

Built on the former location of the Motorola Factory in Bathgate, the Pyramids Business Park is home to HMRC, Quintiles and DRS and is in operation 24 hours, seven days a week.

Niall Joyce of Knight Frank, managing agents of The Pyramids, added: "Almond Catering has brought the catering facilities up to an incredibly high standard highlighting its business values and aspirations. The new restaurant is sure to impress employees and play a fundamental role in attracting new occupiers to The Pyramids. Together with the crèche and gym facilities which already exist on site, we believe this adds to the fantastic working environment for employees."

Established in 2004, Almond Catering is currently the contract caterers for around 25 companies in Scotland, catering for no less than 30,000 people every day. It is dedicated to using local produce and is in the process of introducing the highly regarded 'Healthy Living status' across many of their sites.
