Beattie Communications has landed £0.5m of new contracts on the back of a 35% increase in its year-on-year operating profit.

One of the UK's leading independent PR firms, headquartered in London with offices across Scotland, Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham, Beattie has landed prestigious contracts including Sri Lankan Airlines, wine brokerage Bordeaux Index, high street retailer USC, Sno!Zone, Buchanan Galleries, Almond Catering and New City Vision.

The firm, which lists Marks & Spencer, Specsavers Opticians, Glaxo Smithkline and Kerry Foods as its clients, has also landed several new construction and property contracts, as well as expanded briefs from existing clients.

Group managing director, Laurna O'Donnell, says: "All our offices are flying. Despite the market downturn, we are seeing no slowdown in the PR sector, quite the opposite.

"Companies are looking at ways in which their marketing budgets can work smarter and further and PR represents excellent value for money. Our digital marketing arm, Only Web, has also got off to a flying start as marketing directors place more emphasis on ePR-strategies."

The wins come as the company prepares to launch its re-branded logo - the first re-branding exercise ever for the longest-established PR firm in Scotland.

Beattie Communications was founded 22 years ago by former journalist, Gordon Beattie.
