Bolton Hospice Fosters Support From Childrens Agency

Tuesday, 04 May 2010

Bolton foster agency modus has become one of the first local businesses to pledge support to the new Sponsor A Bed campaign at Bolton Hospice.

The fundraising drive offers businesses the chance to donate from ten pounds a month to pay for sponsorship of a bed at the hospice, which provides specialist palliative care to adults with life-limiting conditions.

modus runs a network of trained and fully supported foster families caring for youngsters across Bolton and the north west, and also runs a small residential children's home, Cross Lee House.

Sue Hamilton, modus' founder and director, said: "I set up modus eight years ago to give a better service to children and young people in care, and to their carers.

"modus is a profit-making business, but we also donate heavily to a number of key charities, and we are proud to be adding Bolton Hospice to that list.  Like us, the hospice is committed to helping and encouraging people to live their lives as fully and comfortably as possible, and providing the highest standards of excellence."

Bolton Hospice is an independent, charitable and voluntary body with a daily operating cost of more than £6,000.  A £10 monthly donation for one year will sponsor one of 14 in-patient beds for one week.  Fundraising manager at Bolton Hospice, Matt Boyle, said:  "We are delighted to have received such fantastic support for the Sponsor a Bed Appeal so far.  The list of supporting businesses is growing and modus are a very welcome addition.

"Everyone at modus has shown tremendously generous support of the Hospice and we are extremely grateful for this. On behalf of everyone at the Hospice I would like to thank Sue and her team for supporting the Hospice."
