Ccw To Ensure Local Businesses Are Clued-Up Grievance Procedures

CCW Business Lawyers is to hold an employment seminar for HR professionals in its Dunfermline office to ensure local businesses are well equipped to deal with any discipline or grievance investigations they may need to carry out in 2010.


Donna Reynolds, CCW associate and head of the firm's Employment and HR team, commented:  "The ACAS code of practice states that whenever a disciplinary and grievance process is being followed, employers should carry out necessary investigations - but it provides little advice on how managers should do this.


"The consequences of failing to investigate promptly or properly can range from the loss of valuable evidence to successful tribunal claims for unfair or constructive dismissal.  However, investigating misconduct or grievances is all too often too far down the 'to-do' list of most managers."


To help address the issue, CCW is promising a light-hearted employment seminar to demonstrate how to carry out investigations.  The company, based at Carnegie Campus, will brief attendees on the right answers and approach to grievance procedures.  The seminar will also provide a relaxed networking opportunity for people from a range of sectors to share their experiences.
