Christmas Comes Early for Jobseekers

Monday, 15 October 2012

The run-up to Christmas is always a stressful time. It’s doubly so where one or more member of the family are out of work. Christmas could be coming early this year for jobseekers in the South East of Essex in the form of a free jobs and training fair taking place on Friday the 19th October at the Kursaal Suites in Southend.

11ten Careers has organised the event for people to come along and find out about courses, training and skills and to talk to employers and training providers about real opportunities available on the day. The company has confirmed attendance by supermarket giant Sainsbury’s, superstore Matalan, Southend Hospital and the Army as well as a wide variety of training providers for the event.

11ten staff will also be on hand during the event to offer professional advice and support for CV building, job interview training and tips, whilst also helping to identify the correct career path for people attending.

Andy Marriott, Director of 11ten Careers said: “We are well aware of how hard it is in the job market at the moment. The lead up to Christmas is an even more stressful time for many people who are out of work or who need to upgrade their skills but just don’t know where to start. We wanted to pull together some experts who can not only talk to people about real opportunities to help them but actually offer them a chance to apply for a job on the day, or to get onto a training course to suit them.”

“We have arranged for a wide range of training providers to be at the event to talk to people about the huge variety of opportunities for them to gain additional skills and experience and also organised for a number of actual employers to be there who will be looking to the event to recruit staff.”

11ten are a provider of careers guidance under the banner of the National Careers Service and has staff based in all local jobcentres as well as at its offices in Rochford.

“Most people just don’t know that there is help out there when they are looking for work or training” Andy Marriott said.

“We help around 3,000 people a year with issues such as career guidance, training and skills, job seeking support, CV writing and so on, but are always looking to promote our totally free services to a wider audience as there must be lots of people out there who need this kind of help.”

The Southend Jobs Fair will take place on Friday October 19 between 1 – 5pm at the Kursaal Function Suite, in the Eastern Esplanade.
