Cosy Pubs Cash Temperature Drops

Thursday, 18 November 2010

A leading tourism and hospitality directory is reporting a surge in searches for cosy local pubs, as freezing temperatures hit Britain.

The number of people looking for 'cosy' places to while away the winter evenings has risen by more than 82 per cent compared with the same time last month*, and experts at iknow-uk are putting the sudden increase down to the wintry weather which has hit Britain this week.

Marcus Simmons, managing director at iknow-uk, said:  "I've heard a lot of people complaining about the cold weather over the past few days, and whilst it is a bit of a shock to the system, I'm a real believer in settling down in front of the fire in a cosy pub and enjoying looking out at the frost.

"We've seen a massive increase in the number of Brits wanting to find a cosy pub to visit, and also people wanting to find traditional country inns with rooms for a pre-Christmas break.

"This weather is all about indulging and looking after yourself, and it seems that many Brits want to do that - despite the current economic outlook being as gloomy as the weather."

Across its 18 regional websites, iknow-uk lists the widest range of hospitality and holiday accommodation venues, such as pubs, B&Bs, hotels, guesthouses, and holiday cottages and flats.
