Cruise118com Director Gets Board For U Factor

Tuesday, 26 January 2010

Cruise118.com director Mal Barritt has signed up to judge the grand final of Northern Ireland's U Factor talent competition.

Joining Mal on Thursday 4th February will be Michael Magill (Michael Magill Entertainments), promoters of the competition, Paul McKenna of radio fame, Jackie Owens (Arts Director of Ardhowen Theatres) and representatives from sponsors Toyota, The Sunday World newspaper and U105 radio.

The U Factor search kicked off in September 2009, touring around Northern Ireland to unearth the very best home-grown talent.  Cruise118.com's Irish Show Cruise stars The Chevys, James Peake, Susan McCann and The Benn Sisters, uncovered talent from across Northern Ireland throughout the competition.

The winners from each of the semi-finals have won themselves a £2,000 prize and secured a place in the grand final.  The final will see them go head-to-head to win £10,000 cash, plus a booking as a singer on board a Cruise118 liner in the Mediterranean next summer.

The six finalists are Oonagh McMullan from Drumaness (representing Co Down), Catherine Grimley from Madden (representing Co Armagh), Jim Devine from Strabane (representing Co Tyrone), Martin Boyle from Derry (representing Co Derry), girl group Vixen from Belfast (representing Co Antrim), girl group Tully from Enniskillen (representing Co Fermanagh) and Nicole Campbell (representing Belfast).

Mal comments: "I'm thrilled that myself and members of our stunning Irish Show Cruise line-up have been part of this exciting competition.  There's so much upcoming talent in Northern Ireland, and I'm sure we can find a really great winner."

Following the competition, Micky Sands and the Chevys will join the U Factor winner, setting sail on a special Irish Show Cruise, which departs from Dublin on November 11th 2010.

Featuring other huge Irish entertainment stars including the internationally acclaimed Irish dance troupe Celtic Rhythm Dancers, comedian Conal Gallen, country star, Susan McCann, top country artist Robert Mizzell,  and Ireland's Queen of Country Music, Philomena Begley, the cruise offers an unmissable line-up for Irish music and entertainment fans.

Guests will be able to enjoy the superb facilities of the world class Fred Olsen Boudicca cruise ship, complete with six different dining options, pool deck and Atlantic Spa, whilst enjoying jam-packed shows every evening showcasing the best of Irish talent.

The nine-night cruise, exclusively available through Cruise118.com, offers guests an unbeatable line up of entertainment with prices starting from just £879 per person.

Departing from Dublin, the ship calls at La Coruna, Gibraltar, Lisbon, Vigo and finally Cobh in County Cork before returning to Dublin after nine nights of sailing.
