GCU London Train Business Leaders Future

Tuesday, 27 March 2012

With the global spotlight shining on the UK this year, a London university is set to launch a business course aimed at moulding international business leaders of the future.

The one-year post-graduate programme at GCU London has been built around expectations of international businesses to ensure students are equipped with the skills needed to thrive in the global marketplace.

International Business lecturer Emily Thomson said: "With international trading on the rise as well as events such as the Olympics and the Golden Jubilee putting the UK firmly on the map it is becoming even more important that business graduates have a sound knowledge of national and international policy within a global context.

"In the UK we are still experiencing the effects of the economic downturn and it is vital that those entering employment within the business sector are equipped with skills which will set them apart from the competition."

GCU London's MSc in International Business explores issues surrounding the global economic crisis and the impact emerging economies in Asia and Latin America are having on international trade.

Students are given the chance to work on 'live' case studies where they tackle issues facing companies wishing to expand into international markets.

In recent years, international business students at GCU London's sister university, Glasgow Caledonian University, have done market research to produce international business development plans for a number of companies including ones in the logistics, IP and online retailing sectors.

Emily added: "The MSc International Business course at GCU London puts employability at the forefront and involves key international companies which will offer their expertise to students.

"The course launched two years ago at Glasgow Caledonian University and has proved extremely popular, so it is on the strength of this that we have branched out to offering the course at GCU London."

Following the course graduates will be equipped to assume managerial roles within a variety of organisations, ranging from businesses engaged in exporting, multinational companies, and a range of governmental and non-governmental organisations.

GCU London is currently recruiting for the MSc International Business course, which will begin in September 2012. For more information visit: http://www.gculondon.ac.uk/study/internationalbusiness/
