Glasses Collection Thats Gok Look

Thursday, 03 March 2011

DESIGNER chic met the high street today as TV style guru, Gok Wan, unveiled a collection of retro glasses he has designed exclusively for Specsavers.

GW by Gok Wan showcases 30 different styles, which have drawn influence from the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s. The result is an iconic range of fashionable designer frames at an accessible high street price, (£99).

Gok says: 'My aim was to create a capsule collection of glasses that would look at home on any catwalk but that crucially, was wearable and affordable. I sought inspiration from the 40s through to the 70s as these were amazing periods in fashion that drew upon all sorts of shapes, colours and patterns.

'You will see everything from little John Lennon-style round glasses through to glamorous cats' eyes and deep square frames. We have used colours you don't often see worn by specs wearers in the UK, such as ivory, caramel, navy and grey. '

Taking cues from style icons - past and present - and putting his own twist on them has allowed Gok to appeal to fashion-conscious customers looking for vintage specs that make a statement.

He says: 'We have used some great techniques, such as striped wood effect finishes, bottle green etching and jewel coloured marbling, to make this range really stand out and allow specs wearers to make a creative statement that's still fashionable and wearable every day. The range will appeal to people of all ages, so long as they like stylish design.

GW by Gok Wan is available from 25 February 2011 in all Specsavers stores throughout the UK and Ireland. Glasses are priced at £99, including Pentax single vision lenses and scratch-resistant coating as standard.

To coincide with the launch, customers can visit the Specsavers Facebook page and try the new Gok Wan style app. After answering a series of questions on their personal style, users will be given a selection of frame recommendations to make choosing their new specs easier.
