Hessle Resident Has An Eye For Photo Gets Snap Happy

Wednesday, 03 November 2010

A LOCAL photographer from North Ferriby, near Hessle, has become the North East regional winner of the Specsavers Amazing Partnerships photography competition.

Mrs Samantha Pardon's winning photograph of pet terrier Monty and her daughter was selected from more than 100 entries nationwide and it will now be displayed at a star-studded exhibition in central London alongside images of personalities including Felicity Kendal and Gary Linekar.

It will take pride of place alongside the photos of nine other regional winners in an exhibition at the Haunch Of Venison art gallery, London, on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 November. The entries were judged by renowned photographer Adrian Houston, whose work will also feature in the exhibition.

Mrs Pardon says: 'I was thrilled to find out that my photo had been chosen by such a well known photographer. I'm so excited about seeing my work displayed next to Adrian's.'

Launched in partnership with Pentax Cameras, the competition aims to raise awareness of Specsavers' national charity partner Guide Dogs. Mr Houston will be exhibiting portraits of a range of celebrities and their dogs to help promote the life-changing role that guide dogs provide for their owners.

Mrs Pardon will be attending an exclusive celebrity preview of the exhibition as part of an all-expenses paid trip to London, as well as winning a Pentax Digital Camera SLR (KX Digital SLP) camera worth more than £500. She will also be presented with the coveted Specsavers Amazing Partnerships photography competition trophy at their local Specsavers store.

Mrs Pardon concludes: 'I submitted the photograph of our pet terrier 'Monty' and my daughter because he is so loving and has a bond with every one of the family. Without him, life wouldn't be the same. Whenever anyone of us is down he is first in for cuddles, his tail forever wagging!'
