GCU London fashion student Holly Vennell from Bevington, near Bristol, has been awarded a prestigious industry scholarship from her employers - leading fashion retailers All Saints.
Holly (22) is studying for an MSc in International Fashion Marketing at GCU London's stylish Spitalfields, London campus. She was one of five to receive a scholarship from fashion leader All Saints which will cover the cost of the course.
The budding fashion marketing student began working at All Saints earlier this year and soon found out that her employers offered a scholarship to GCU London's MSc International Fashion Marketing.
Holly applied for the scholarship and was delighted when she was selected.
She said: "I have always been interest in fashion and had started working at All Saints in London as a retail sales assistant. I knew I wanted to do a Masters and I read about the All Saints scholarship and the MSc in Fashion Marketing at GCU London, which sounded like a great opportunity.
"The course is a perfect fit for me as it has a good mix of classes which are really relevant to today's fashion industry.
"Winning the scholarship has helped me out considerably. I couldn't have undertaken the course without it."
GCU has earned an international reputation for the high quality of its fashion, marketing and retailing programmes, which equip students with the creative and practical skills that are vital for professionals working in fashion marketing and brand management.
Earlier this year, reflecting GCU's reputation, expertise and commitment in the area of fashion education, Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Pamela Gillies was awarded Fashion Innovator of the Year at the Scottish Fashion Awards.
It is the second year that fashion giant All Saints has offered the valuable scholarship. And Holly, who graduated from the University of Leeds in 2010 with a degree in History and Philosophy of Science and Geography, will now benefit from links with the industry leader, which has its headquarters in Spitalfields.
Holly moved to London last year and began an internship with global fashion and culture magazine Vice, as well as assisting a freelance stylist with editorial campaigns for House of Fraser. She then went onto work with top Australian designers Sass and Bide during London Fashion week before applying for the MSc Fashion Marketing course at GCU London.
After completing the MSc Fashion Marketing, the hard working student, who continues to work at All Saints, hopes to secure work with a fashion marketing or brand management company.
Stephen Doyle, Director of Fashion and Luxury Programmes, London, said: "The All Saints Scholarship provides an excellent opportunity for students to join the MSc in International Fashion Marketing and is indicative of the company's commitment to education.
"As one of the UK's leading fashion retailers the expertise and insights that it can offer students is particularly valuable. We are very grateful for their generous investment in our students.
"This endorsement by All Saints also highlights its belief in the programme and in the scholars that it supports. Holly has done well to secure one of the scholarships and she joins us with some good industry experience behind her, which shows her commitment and determination to work in the fashion industry."
