Iknow What To Get Dad This Fathers Day

Thursday, 20 May 2010

The most important day of the year for Dads is coming up, and UK tourism and accommodation expert iknow-uk  has brought together a selection of unusual activities and days out for all kinds of Dad - from the chilled out to the adreneline junkie.

Marcus Simmons, managing director at iknow-uk, explained: "More and more people are looking for something a bit out of the ordinary these days and Dads are getting more adventurous. Why not treat yours to something a bit out of the ordinary this year?  Dads come in all shapes and sizes, and holiday breaks and days out do too!"

Segway Guided Tour, Lake District

If you've got an eco-friendly Dad he might fancy hopping on one of these. Two-wheeled, self balancing electric 'segways' are a green way to get around. Explore a scenic private estate of Graythwaite Hall, close to the shores of Windermere. If you want to go too, you need to be 14 or over. Weight restrictions apply.

4 X 4 racing, North Yorkshire

If four wheels are more your Dad's thing, put a grin on his face with an adrenaline-filled day tackling the deep mud, rocks, steep climbs and ruts of the Yorkshire Moors. He can choose to get behind the wheel of a 4x4, Quad, Hummer or more. There's even professional training. From a one hour solo package to 5 hours of fun - you can spend anything between £25 and £500. And don't worry mum - it's all very safe with a highly trained team of instructors at hand.

Harness Sphereing, Newquay,.

Think outside the box and into the bubble! Give your Dad the unique sensation of defying gravity whilst tearing down a hill at speeds of up to 30 mph strapped inside a 12-foot inflatable Sphere! Not your average Sunday afternoon!  With 3-foot of air between Dad and the ground it's fast-paced, exhilarating and unlike anything he'll ever have experienced before! £59 for two, other locations available. You need to be over 12 if you want to join Dad!

Brewery Tour, Masham, Ripon, North Yorkshire

For Dads who like a pint - this is one step further than a plain old trip to the pub. Masham is famous for the Black Sheep and Theakston Breweries. In the Black Sheep he can visit the fermenting room and see how beer's made... And check out the fully licensed Baar where a friendly sheep will pull a pint.

Coasteering, Haverfordwest

This is definitely one for the adreneline-junkie Dad! He can check out the awe inspiring North Pembrokeshire coastline at sea level - swimming into sea caves, climbing up through natural rock arches, flinging himself from towering vertical rock faces, and perhaps even swimming with Atlantic grey seals! Over 18s only.

Relax and Pamper Day for men, The Crown Spa Hotel, Scarborough

For a more refined Father's Day - how about redressing the balance of his mind and body at this luxurious spa. There's something for every budget, from an Executive Foot Care treatment to a Relax and Revive Spa Day for Men. There's also a pool and large spa tub - and a private Rejuventation Retreat Suite. From £8 to £187.

These are just a few of the unusual days out available from iknow-uk's 14 regional websites.
