The Institute of Directors (IoD) is backing the business pioneers of Yorkshire and the Humber by lending its support to the region's 'Innovator 09' awards.

The 'Innovator 09' awards, hosted by Yorkshire Forward, celebrate companies and individuals in our region who have embraced innovation and developed new ideas, products, technologies or ways of working in order to improve their business.

The awards, now in their second year, include six new categories all designed to showcase the entrants' commitment to the pursuit of excellence.

John Thompson, regional director of IoD Yorkshire and judge of the 'Innovator 09' awards, comments: "The IoD is proud to back the 'Innovator 09' awards.  It is imperative, particularly in the current economic climate, for businesses to focus on development in order to stay one step ahead of the competition.  These awards celebrate the very best of the region's forward thinkers, which will help to safeguard Yorkshire and the Humber's reputation as business pioneers."
