Kall Kwik Leeds Pavillion Gets Charity Duo Off To Flying
Wednesday, 29 July 2009
A Leeds print and design centre is supporting a local Guinness World RecordTM challenge to fly to 10 countries in less than 24 hours.
Kall Kwik Leeds Pavilion, which is based at the Pavilion Business Park on Royds Hall Road, is helping Joshua Wilson, 22 and Darren Cooper, 22 publicise their attempt to complete a record-breaking endurance challenge which aims to raise funds for two worthwhile local charities.
On 28th August Joshua and Darren will set off in a 40-year-old light aircraft to try and beat the current record for Most Countries Visited in a Fixed Wing Aircraft in 24 Hours, a record which has been approved by Guinness World RecordsTM. Kall Kwik is providing design and print services free of charge to equip the team with posters and sponsorship forms to help the duo raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Schools 4 Schools charities.
The 1,500km route will see the pair navigate some of the busiest airspace and cover some of the most hostile terrain in Europe. Departing from the UK at first light for Belgium, the aircraft will then visit Holland, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia and Italy.
Seeken Pang and Mark Green, joint centre owners of Kall Kwik Leeds Pavilion comment: "When we heard about Challenge24 and the great charities the guys are supporting we were keen to help out. We are in the process of designing the publicity material which will enable the team to raise awareness of the challenge to drive further donations."
Darren Cooper says: "The support we have received from local and national companies has been fantastic and we would like to thank Kall Kwik Leeds Pavilion for its generous contribution. The final planning is now well underway and our fundraising has begun in earnest to reach our goal of £10,000."

Notes to Editors
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance relies on the generosity of individuals and organisations to help save lives across Yorkshire. As a rapid response emergency service the charity serves a population of approximately 5 million people across 4 million acres. The swift medical interventions provided by our air ambulance crews have a major impact on a patient's chance of survival and subsequent quality of life. To keep both of Yorkshire's ambulances in the air they need to raise £7200 per day. This is equivalent to £2.65 million per year which is purely dependant on the donations of private individuals and organisations. Josh and Darren both have a strong passion for aviation and believe that raising sponsorship for the charity through an aviation World Record will greatly benefit the Yorkshire Air Ambulance but also help to promote the benefits of aviation as a whole.
Schools 4 Schools' aim is to advance the education and development of children in The Gambia primarily through the provision of schools, educational material, human resources, in particular circumstances feeding programmes and where appropriate support to the community infrastructure. They work directly with local communities to provide the assistance they need for their school, and aim to forge links between schools in The Gambia and those in the UK. Schools 4 Schools believe that the problems faced are not purely financial and therefore adopt a much more hands on approach to achieve their long term objectives. The charity has no running costs as all work is on a voluntary basis and therefore 100% of all funding goes directly towards making a difference for the children of The Gambia.
