Lanarkshire businesses benefit from Facebook masterclass

Monday, 25 February 2013

Companies in Lanarkshire flocked to a recent social media breakfast briefing held at the Lanarkshire Business and Conference Centre in Cumbernauld College.

The New Media Breakfast presented by Gordon White, managing director of Glasgow digital marketing agency, Fatbuzz, explored ways companies can take advantage of Facebook to promote their business and engage with customers.

Gordon said: “The monthly breakfast seminars at Lanarkshire Business and Conference Centre are a great way for local businesses in Lanarkshire to come together and learn more about the power of social media.

“Over the past few years there has been a fundamental shift in the way we conduct research into brands or companies and today every organisation and business out there needs to employ social media.”

The seminar looked at new Facebook features such as promoted posts, sponsored stories and graph search, as well as branding, iFrame pages and advertising.

Lisa Commons, who runs baby and kids’ market company Rock a Buy, attended for the first time. She said: “As the owner of a local start-up company, I found the session really useful. There were a lot of good ideas and there is a lot more marketing options available through social media than I knew of. I thoroughly enjoyed the session and would recommend it to other small businesses.”

Darren Kerr, owner of Crest Bathrooms, also attended. He said: “It’s my first time at a seminar of this kind and I’ll definitely be back. The conference facilities at Lanarkshire Business and Conference Centre are fantastic. The service has been very professional and the conference suite was easy to find.”

The next Lanarkshire New Media Breakfast will take place at the Lanarkshire Business and Conference Centre, in Cumbernauld College on March 21st. For more information please visit:
