Leeds Team Walk to Charity Success
Thursday, 24 May 2012
A 24-strong team from the UK's largest independent commercial property advisor and 10 solicitors from Pinsent Masons completed a 12 hour sponsored trek in excess of 30 miles for the fourth year running, this year raising more than £9,000.
Setting off from Barden Tower, the route passed Bolton Abbey and then moved through Simon's Seat and past Appletreewick onto Burnsall and Cracoe before returning home over Barden Moor. The quickest walkers finished in 10 hours, with the stragglers finishing a couple of hours later.
The team fundraised for both Candlelighters Trust and Cancer Research UK.
In the process the team raised in excess of £1,400 for Cancer Research UK and over £7,600 for the Candlelighters Trust, taking their total fundraising efforts for Candlelighters to an impressive £25,500 following the successful completion of the 28 mile Dales walk over the past four years.
Steven Greenwood, an associate at GVA, said: "This was a very tough trek for two very worthy causes. With typical Yorkshire grit and determination, every single person fought through wind and rain to get round the walk.
"We'd like to thank all our kind sponsors for helping us raise so much money through our website - www.justgiving.com/gvaleeds2012walk - for Candlelighters Trust and for Cancer Research UK. There's still time to pledge support so please log on and help us push our sponsorship even higher."
