LOCAL DONATIONS FOLLOW POPULAR FAMILY EVENT FROM CALA

Friday, 13 May 2016

CALA Homes (North) has donated £200 to two local causes following its annual Easter Egg Hunt in Cults.

The housebuilder pledged to donate £5 for each correctly completed form that was handed back to its sales suite at Rosefield Gardens with the proceeds split between Cults Primary School and Northsound’s Cash for Kids appeal.

Eighty local children took part in the hunt during the spring school holidays, each receiving a chocolate treat for handing in the completed form. Ten local businesses in Cults displayed numbered Easter eggs in its windows and children were encouraged to identify where each egg could be found.

Fraser Carr, Sales and Marketing Director at CALA Homes (North), said: “Once again we’ve had a strong turn-out for our Easter Egg Hunt.

“The annual event continues to prove to be a great boost for the area, presenting the opportunity to raise money for great worthy causes while providing children with a fun activity to participate in during the school holidays.

“Cults is a delightful area with a wealth of amenities and we hope our egg hunt helped to showcase it to both locals and those from neighbouring areas.”

Cults Primary School is using the donation to help purchase new equipment for outdoor learning while the funds will help Cash for Kids continue to support local disabled and disadvantaged children and young people in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Caroline Johnstone, Head Teacher at Cults Primary School, said: “Many of our pupils enjoyed taking part in CALA’s Easter egg hunt again this year.

“The money raised has given us the opportunity to purchase some valuable resources. This year we’ll be using the donation to purchase new multi-sensory materials which our pupils will be able to use for many years to come.”

Michelle Ferguson, Charity Manager at Northsound Cash for Kids, said: “Each year we support thousands of local children up to 18 years old who are ill, disabled, underprivileged or who simply need extra care and guidance. CALA’s donation will help us to continue to do so.

“The money we raise benefits children in a variety of ways including grants to individual children, other children’s charities, community groups, schools and health organisations.”
