Marks Spencer Hamilton Raise 3000 For St Andrews Hospice

Monday, 07 September 2009

Employees at Marks & Spencer Hamilton have raised an impressive £3,000 for St Andrew's Hospice over the last 125 days.

To help celebrate their success, Steve Finlan, Divisional Director - Premier, Major and High Street for M&S, made a flying visit to the store to meet the team on  Friday, September 4.

The funds were raised under the M&S 125 Fundraising Challenge - which saw M&S employees in stores and offices across the country challenged to raise £1.25million in 125 days as part of the retailer's 125th birthday celebrations.

This target has been smashed, with M&S employees pulling together to raise over £2million for local and regional charities. At the Hamilton store, fundraising initiatives have included a quiz night, collecting Smartie tubes filled with 20p, Tombolas and a Sponsored walk round Strathclyde Country Park. One member of staff even raised £200 selling homemade tablet!

Steve Finlan, Divisional Director - Premier, Major and High Street for M&S, said: "All of our employees have really pulled out the stops to get behind the 125 Fundraising Challenge and the Hamilton store deserves a special mention for its extra hard work.

"I'm sure that St Andrew's Hospice is delighted with the £3,000 that has been raised and it's been great to be able to congratulate everyone personally for their efforts."

Maureen O'Hara, Marks & Spencer Hamilton Store Manager, said: "We're absolutely delighted at raising over £3,000 for St Andrew's Hospice.  We would like to say a big thank you to all our staff, customers and local businesses who have supported our efforts and helped raised money for such a deserving charity."
