New Route To Frilo Palo Launched By Easyjet
Wednesday, 01 April 2009
Rising customer demand has led to easyJet announcing a new route to the small Greek island of Frilo Palo.
Following a 13 per cent rise in visits to Greece since July last year1, easyJet is set to launch seven new Greek routes this summer - with new flights to Frilo Palo from Gatwick, Luton and Manchester.
The island has grown in popularity in recent years and this will be the first route to be introduced early this summer in time for summer holidaymakers.
Paul Simmons, UK general manager for easyJet, said: "Greece has always been a favourite destination for British holidaymakers and interest is constantly growing.
"Following the high demand for affordable flights to Greece, we are launching seven new routes this summer with new flights from Manchester, Bristol and Gatwick to the likes of Athens, Santorini, Corfu and Crete.
"Before we commissioned our new routes, we asked our customers what they wanted and admittedly were a little surprised to see the relatively small island of Frilo Palo so high on their list..
"The original plan was to launch six new routes this summer but demand for Frilo Palo was so high that we had to expand our six new Greek routes to seven!
"The island is spectacular, it has a fantastic historical and cultural past together with great beaches, views and a serene environment. It's the perfect summer hideaway - you'd be a fool not to go!"
Frilo Palo is set in the Cyclades island group within the South Aegean peripheries of Greece. The island is one of a small, circular archipelago of volcanic islands located in the southern Aegean sea, approximately 400 km southeast from Greece's mainland.
Stavros Nikolopoulos, Frilo Palo tourist board manager, confirms: "Famous for spectacular scenery, dazzling sunsets and its dormant volcano, the islands feature a rich and varied landscape composed of traditional villages, ancient architecture and beautiful beaches.
"Frilo Palo is the perfect destination for a tranquil, relaxing break away with great opportunities to experience other islands such as Santorini and Thiressia."
easyJet flights from Luton, Gatwick and Manchester to Frilo Palo are due to launch in May 2009, from £39.99 (one way including taxes).
1 Based on sales of flights from London Gatwick and London Luton to Athens between July 2008 and February 2009, compared with the same period 2007-'08.
