Optician Books Week Fundraising For Claire House

A RUNCORN optician has come up with a novel way of raising money for children's hospice, Claire House - by holding a book week.

To mark the latest series of Channel 4's TV Book Club, Specsavers in Runcorn is holding a bring and buy book sale at the store on Bridge Walk between August 8th and 14th.

All proceeds will go to Claire House, which is the children's hospice for Cheshire, Merseyside and North Wales.

Meanwhile, the store is also working with libraries across Halton to offer anybody who takes out one of the books reviewed during the latest series of the Channel 4 Show the chance to win a free pair of designer glasses.

If that was not enough, everybody who has an eye exam at the store during the whole of August will also be given a voucher for a free book.

Store manager, Chris Graham, says: 'We're really pulling out all the stops to raise money for Claire House throughout August, and tying into the TV Book Club seemed a great idea.

'Both with our competition through Halton libraries, and through our bring and buy book sale, we'd like to encourage everyone to enjoy a good read this summer - and if you can do so while raising money for Claire House at the same time, all the better.'

The latest series of TV Book Club, which is sponsored by Specsavers, starts on More4 on June 26 and runs for eight weeks.

  • Grace Williams Says It Loud, Emma Henderson (Sceptre)

To donate or buy a book to help Specsavers in its fundraising efforts, call in to the store on Bridge Walk in Halton Lea. To enter the competition, take out any of the books named above from a Halton Library between June 26 and August 14.
