Opticians Run

STAFF at a local opticians completed the Lincoln 10k race this weekend in a bid to raise money for charity.

 

Steve Tweddle, Matt Day and Sean Murray - all from the Lincoln High Street Specsavers store - have raised more than £1, 200 through sponsorship from family, friends, colleagues and generous customers.

 

The annual race, which culminates at Lincoln Castle, invites runners to choose a charity of their choice or to run just for fun!

 

Steve ran for Lives First Responder, a voluntary emergency organisation committed to saving lives in Lincolnshire. Matt ran for national charity Cancer Research UK

while Sean is supporting Three Counties Dog Rescue, which looks after lost, unwanted and stray dogs across the region.

 

Paul Hurdley, store director of Lincoln High Street Specsavers, says: 'We're really proud of the guys - running10k is no small challenge and they definitely deserve to put their feet up for a while!

 

'The Specsavers team alone donated more than £300 and we can't thank everyone else who supported the guys enough from their generosity towards the three charities. I know the chaps were nervous before the race but everyone's support and encouragement really spurred them on to keep going and cross the finish line.'
