Wednesday, 17 November 2010
STAFF at Specsavers in Pocklington are looking forward to welcoming Pudsey, the world's most famous bear, to town as he joins them to officially launch the store's Children in Need fundraising day.
On Saturday 20 November, Pocklington shoppers will be urged to dig deep and pledge donations to the popular charity.
Robert Winlow, store director at Specsavers in Market Place, says: 'We're really looking forward to welcoming the very popular Pudsey Bear to Pocklington. He's a much loved character and I'm sure he'll be good fun and keep children, customers of all ages and my team entertained throughout his visit!'
The day will be filled with fun activities for everyone visiting the Specsavers store and staff will be handing out goody bags and balloons to everyone who visits on Saturday.
Customers will be invited to try their luck at winning some of the many prizes up for grabs on the tombola, such as spectacle cleaning kits to luxury hand creams. The store will also be operating a one-day Specs-station where anyone can come along and receive a free glasses MOT. Staff will clean lenses, repair frames and make adjustments to ensure specs fit correctly and comfortably - all for a charitable donation to Children in Need.
Store manager Catherine Barrow, adds: 'We're really excited about playing our part in raising money for such an important charity and the whole team has been involved to prepare for our fundraising day. With their enthusiasm and charitable spirit I know the day will be a great success and I urge all Pocklington shoppers to come and support us and join in the fun.'
Shoppers will also have the opportunity to collect a voucher entitling them to a £10 eye test and £10 off a pair of specs which can be reclaimed until the 31 December 2010.
