Record Growth Leads To Changes Top Finnamore

Monday, 19 January 2009

Finnamore Management Consultants has appointed John Deverill as managing director, with founder Bruce Finnamore becoming executive chairman, as part of the company's approach to maintain its strong growth following a record year in 2008.

The 18-year-old company saw turnover increase by nearly 50 per cent over the past twelve months and intends that the new senior management team will help support further expansion and diversification during 2009.

Bruce Finnamore has stepped up to become executive chairman and, while continuing to have a significant consulting portfolio, will focus on strategic leadership of the company.  John Deverill, who joined the company as a director during 2008, becomes managing director and will be supported by the company's third director, David Chevins.

Mr Deverill said: "Last year proved to be a very good one for Finnamore, with some high profile work and contract wins - such as Co-Creating Health and Core Cities - and a string of major projects for a number of NHS Primary Care and Foundation Trusts across the country.

"This helped increase turnover for the company by nearly 50 per cent, which is largely a reflection of the rate at which we have grown our team of consultants over the past 18 months.

"That expansion has seen us transformed from a small team of dedicated health specialists to the company we are now, with a much larger team of consultants and a far more diverse range of backgrounds and commercial expertise."

Looking ahead, Mr Deverill said that there were substantial opportunities for the company to pursue and that the company expected further growth, with plans for a presence in northern England and further key appointments in the pipeline.

Mr Finnamore added: "While it is heartening to see our business buck the general economic trend, our success has been no accident.

"What we have achieved over the past year is part of a strategy and journey upon which we embarked in 2007, to pull together a team with a unique blend of commercial and healthcare expertise.

"That is exactly what is most needed by our clients right now as they look for the expertise to bring commercial best practice to improve services provided by the NHS. Thanks to our aggressive expansion, it is exactly what we - little more than a year later - can now offer."

Among the additions to the Finnamore team during that time are new MD, John Deverill, who joined the company last year from Serco; director, David Chevins, whose previous posts included working as the divisional CEO of a major PLC and founder of healthcare specialists Secta.

Managing consultant recruits include: Luke de Lord whose background was with Grant Thornton; Paul Gray joined the company from EC Harris; Gareth Jones and Stuart Turnock joined from Serco.  Deborah Homa and Andy Whiting have both been promoted from within to further strengthen the managing consultant team.

Finnamore was established 18 years ago to provide top class, high value strategic consultancy services to public and private organisations throughout the health and social care sectors.

In recent years, the company has added a wealth of commercial experience to its healthcare expertise in order to further strengthen its offering to NHS organisations facing the enormous challenge of modernising services.
