Spec-Tacular Design Competition For Mansfield School Children

A LOCAL opticians is gearing up for the UK's first ever National Eye Health Week (14- 20 June) by launching a competition for school children to win a fantastic family day out.
Mansfield Specsavers is on the hunt for a local school pupil who has the talent to design their own poster to promote the importance of eye health. The lucky winner will win their family a fun-filled day out at the White Post Farm Centre in Farnsfield for up to two adults and three children.
Local school children from up to 20 schools in the area have been invited to design their very own eye health poster to help educate them and others on the importance of eye health.
Whether it's a simple sketch or a colourful painting, Mansfield Specsavers want to see what eye health means to children across the town.
Store director Imogen Hoyle comments: 'We know we have a lot of budding artists in Mansfield and we wanted to give children a real chance to shine during National Eye Health Week. We're hoping that the competition will encourage kids to get creative as well as help educate them on the importance of looking after their eye health.'
National Eye Health Week chairman, David Scott-Ralphs, says: 'Sight is the sense that people fear losing most, yet many of us don't know the best way to look after our eyes. National Eye Health Week aims to change all that.
'With more than half of all sight loss in the UK being recognised as avoidable, we thought it was time to launch an education campaign designed to make people take their eye health seriously. It is our aim to work with optical industry to improve these numbers and we would to thank Specsavers in Mansfield for their involvement.'
