Stone Soup Connects Yorkshire Businesses

Wednesday, 18 February 2009

An innovative online business community, designed by award-winning design agency Stone Soup, will go live today to complement the Business Link Yorkshire website.

The Business Link Yorkshire Entrepreneur Channel will provide a support network to members from across the region by allowing start-up businesses to receive first hand advice from their contemporaries via regular blogs and video diaries.

Business Link has worked in partnership with Stone Soup for over three years and the design agency was behind an earlier Business Link blog aimed at young entrepreneurs which launched in 2006.

The original blog proved to be a popular resource, with 30 businesses making regular contributions. Many of the original writers will continue to draft and upload their views on to the new website.

The Business Link Yorkshire Entrepreneur Channel is a natural progression from Stone Soup's original concept and will allow local business people to create their own profiles as well as interact and share advice with each other.

Stone Soup will also be sourcing and interviewing entrepreneurs from various backgrounds and uploading a video diary of their profiles and experiences. These will be added to the website fortnightly and will also be accessible from a micro-site on YouTube.

Videos of key business events in Yorkshire will also be filmed and made available on the site, including last weeks Venturefest Yorkshire.

Tom Sharp, creative director at Stone Soup says: "Our previous work with Business Link has provided us with a real insight into what entrepreneurs want from an advice website. I believe that the Business Link Yorkshire Entrepreneur Channel will prove to be an invaluable resource for anyone who is looking to start up, or owns, their own business.

"We have designed the website so that it is easy to use and will allow subscribers to communicate with each other through its various applications. We also hope that it will drive footfall to the main Business Link website, allowing entrepreneurs to gain expert advice and feedback from Business Link advisers.

"My business partner Andy and I started Stone Soup as new graduates so we know how important access to business support is to start-up firms. A service like this, which allowed us to easily share our experiences with others in a similar situation, would certainly have been beneficial to our business."
