Rachel McClelland, 23 and Adam Topliss, 25 from Specsavers on West Street walked five miles across the moors and along roads which had been closed by police to deliver glasses to people, including Mr Nicol, 89 from Whitchurch.


Mr Nichol says: 'I hadn't moved my car for five to six days so there was no way I could have gone to the store. The weather has been terrible so I really appreciate Specsavers staff coming to me.'


Another customer Joan Blowey, 80, said: 'I am delighted that Rachel and Adam took the effort to deliver my glasses. It shows how much they care about their customers.'


Specsavers Tavistock store director, Sarah Routly added 'Customer service is of upmost importance to us and I want to thank Rachel and Adam for taking the initiative and going the extra mile for our customers.'
