Blooming Wonderful

I have a lovely garden overlooking the Mediterranean and it’s in full bloom right now.

The swallows are chirping, the bees are buzzing and the butterflies are fluttering.

This morning I was watching a beautiful orange and black butterfly, known as a Queen of Spain Fritillary, going from flower to flower on a vibrant purple bougainvillea bush.

All of a sudden a green lizard leapt from a wall and devoured the stunning Queen in one gulp.

The incident reminded me of the little swallow who wanted to winter in Scotland but was forced to fly south because of the cold.

Ice, unfortunately, formed on his wings and he fell to earth in a farmyard.  A passing cow crapped on the little bird. Luckily, the hot manure defrosted his wings.

Warm and happy, he started to sing. A cat padded by and hearing the chirping, cleared away the manure with its paw, found the swallow, and promptly ate him.

The moral of the story:

  1. Everyone who shits on you is not necessarily your enemy.
  2. Everyone who gets you out of the shit is not necessarily your friend.
  3. If you're warm and happy in a pile of shit, keep your mouth shut!
