Around 600 second year pupils from across North Lanarkshire enjoyed fun in the sun as they descended into M&D’s theme park for a rewarding day out.

The large scale pupil event which forms part of North Lanarkshire Council’s Celebrating Success programme has partnered with Scotland’s Theme Park for a number of years to offer the day out as a reward for good behaviour throughout the year.

M&D’s continues to support the initiative by offering free wristbands to the Council to mark good behaviour, attendance and timekeeping amongst the local authority’s second year students.

Pupils made the most of the #funtastical rides and activities at Scotland’s Theme Park with their friends in one of the nicest days of the year so far.

The students also took the opportunity to take a spin on Musik Express, a brand new ride which opened this season.

Pupils came from schools across North Lanarkshire including Braidhurst in Motherwell, Cardinal Newman in Bellshill, St Ambrose in Coatbridge, Greenfaulds in Cumbernauld, St Margaret’s in Airdrie and Clyde Valley in Wishaw.

M&D’s is home to iconic rides for all the family including the Big Wheel, Dodgems and the Big Apple.

Jensen Taylor Connelly, director of M&D’s Theme Park, said: “We are committed to supporting children and families and helping to reward good behaviour so we were thrilled to support North Lanarkshire Council once again with its Celebrating Success initiative.”

There are very few venues in the country that can host so many pupils at once to recognise their hard work and effort so we were delighted to be a part of it.  The day had a fantastic atmosphere and offered the opportunity for students from across North Lanarkshire to meet up and enjoy all that M&D’s has to offer.

Lorraine Fisher, Head of Education at North Lanarkshire Council said, “We are grateful to M&D’s for their longstanding support for our S2 Celebrating Success initiative. Every year, hundreds of our young people who successfully take part in the initiative are rewarded with a visit to the theme park. We look forward to continuing our successful partnership with M&D’s.”

In addition to the theme park, M&D’s also features Amazonia, Scotland’s only indoor tropical rainforest; glow-in-the-dark ten pin bowling at Cosmic Bowl; and 18-hole mini adventure golf at Devil’s Island Golf.
