The magic of Christmas was unveiled at Buchanan Galleries today (Tuesday 14th November) with help from two exquisite dancers from Scottish Ballet’s The Nutcracker.

Glasgow’s leading shopping destination welcomed the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Nutcracker Prince to mark the official start of the Christmas season.

Dancers Bethany Kingsley-Garner and Andrew Peasgood dazzled shoppers with their breath-taking costumes, as they posed for photographs at Buchanan Galleries throughout the morning.

The duo’s arrival coincided with the launch of the shopping centre’s Christmas TV advert, which hits screens this evening.

The heart-warming advert, featuring Glasgow’s skyline and highlighting a selection of desirable festive gifts, will run throughout December and is sure to be a hit with both viewers and shoppers alike.

Kathy Murdoch, centre manager at Buchanan Galleries, said: “We were delighted to welcome the Sugar Plum Fairy and Nutcracker Prince to Buchanan Galleries to help us launch Christmas at the centre.

“The centre is gearing up for a busy festive season, playing host to Santa every weekend from 2nd to 24th December as well as welcoming Christmas carollers in support of Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, The popular charity will also have a pop up shop in the centre and will be offering a gift wrapping service in return for voluntary donations.
