Laurna Woods, CEO of integrated communications agency Beattie Communications, has been nominated for a top industry award.

She is in the running in the Transformational Leader category at the Scottish final of the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year programme.

Laurna has been CEO of Beattie since 2002, steering its evolution into a leading public relations and digital marketing company with offices around the United Kingdom and in Canada.

Laurna, 42, from Coatbridge, said: “It’s great to be nominated for an award of such stature but really it’s a reflection on the company as a whole.

“We would not be the success we are today if we did not hire great people. Only by working together do we achieve the results which delight our clients.”

The awards are run by EY, the global leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services.

There are 23 people from 21 businesses nominated in six categories at the Scottish awards. The overall winner of the Scottish competition will be announced on June 21 and will go on to the UK final in November.

The category Laurna is nominated in recognises individuals with the vision to lead an organisation to bigger and better things.

EY says the Transformational Leader award celebrates entrepreneurs who have identified challenges for their business and been instrumental in overcoming them.

Previous winners of the UK EY Entrepreneur Of The Year title include Tim Richards of Vue Cinemas.

Last year, Laurna was a finalist in the HR Network’s chief executive of the year competition.
