Beattie, the integrated communications agency, is to offer online media training courses to raise money for the NHS.

The courses, costing a minimum donation of £1,000, will be offered via Zoom or Microsoft Teams with up to 10 participants able to take part.

Covering the full gambit of media training including tips for managing press, radio and TV interviews, the courses will also include a session on communicating with the media during the current pandemic plus a full blown Q&A session.

Leading the courses will be Beattie CEO Laurna Woods and crisis director Chris Gilmour. Both are former journalists and have conducted scores of live media training sessions over the years.

Woods said: “Now is the ideal time for brands to brush up on their media training and journalist interview skills and we hope lots of brands will take the opportunity to sign up and help the NHS at the same time.

“We have set ourselves a moderate goal of raising £10,000 for the NHS but our final tally will obviously depend on how many brands sign up. We will begin our promotional campaign later in the week.”

Gilmour, who heads up Beattie’s reputation management division Only Crisis, added: “Each course will be tailored to the participating brand so that everyone gets maximum benefit. The courses will last between one and two hours, so they are ideal for lunchtime learning sessions.”
