Business is booming for Beattie Tartan, Canada’s integrated communications agency.

The fledgling firm has rounded off its first quarter having won new clients, added new staff and secured more business from existing clients.

“Despite the extra costs associated with a start-up, Beattie Tartan is already operating at a profit,” said managing director Deirdre Campbell.

“We’ve broken into profit six months ahead of schedule thanks to good housekeeping and by boosting revenues from new and existing clients.

“I was determined to run a tight ship from day one and we’re now looking forward to a very successful first year as we grow the agency across Canada.

“We will be moving into our new office in Toronto in October and we’re eyeing billings of $2m in our first year.”

New client wins include construction group Ledcor and the upcoming launch of a new residential and commercial centre in Vancouver Island’s Western Communities, Alaskan adventure company Within The Wild, as well as officially signing on as PR agency of record for University of Victoria’s award winning Peter B. Gustavson School of Business. Beattie Tartan has also been expanding its issues and crisis communications portfolio.

In addition to Toronto, Beattie Tartan operates in three cities Calgary, Vancouver and Victoria and further geographic expansion is on the cards.

Campbell added: “We will open additional offices to meet client demand and like our parent company in the UK, our long-term goal is to have the biggest agency footprint in Canada.”

London-headquartered Beattie has 12 offices across the UK and Ireland including Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and Glasgow. It also has a partner network spanning more than 100 cities worldwide.

As well as Beattie Tartan, Beattie Group operates two other headline brands – specialist marketing boutiques Only and student recruitment consultancy 11ten.
