Bridges Donates Unwanted Christmas Gifts To Charity - Sunderland Shoppers

Tuesday, 03 February 2009

In a display of generosity, Sunderland shoppers have donated more than 100 unwanted Christmas gifts to Bridges this month for charity.

Items donated in support of The Children's Society included toiletries, chocolates and children's toys.

Sandra Jeffrey, from The Children's Society, Sunderland comments: 'We were blown away by the number of Bridges shoppers who donated gifts. We actually collected even more than last year despite the current economic climate. The donated gifts have proved very popular in our stores on Blandford Street and have helped bring in much needed cash to support our work.'

Sarah King, Marketing Manager at Bridges, adds: "We were overwhelmed with the response to our Gift Amnesty and are very grateful to our generous shoppers for getting involved in giving to The Children's Society.

"We'd like to thank all Bridges shoppers who donated. The proceeds from the sale of the gifts will really help the charity to continue their work protecting the right to a childhood for children across the UK.'

Gift donations will help raise much needed funds that enable the charity to give support to children who face danger, discrimination or disadvantage in their daily lives. To pledge further support please visit The Children's Society store, 39 Blandford Street, Sunderland.
