Barrhead Travel has announced the launch of quarterly networking events for members of its Affinity programme, with the first taking place on May 18 in Glasgow.
The independent travel group’s Affinity Programme was established to connect with businesses and has gone from strength to strength, with a membership of around 300 companies of all sizes, working across a variety of sectors.
Members benefit from access exclusive offers, discounts and event invitations, with the leading independent travel agent also offering tailored business travel solutions.
Barrhead Travel will host the inaugural Affinity networking event at Glasgow’s Chaophraya restaurant and is urging prospective members to come along and find out more.
Guests will enjoy a fantastic champagne reception, cooking demonstration and cocktail masterclass – with two complimentary cocktails and food following the demonstration. Hosts Chaophraya will also give a short presentation on the evening.
Barrhead Travel chief executive, Sharon Munro, said: “Our Affinity programme allows us to build relationships with the business community, and has proved so popular that we appointed a dedicated Affinity executive to oversee and further grow the programme. We are now signing up more businesses than ever before, and offer tailored packages specifically to suit their employees’ needs.
“We took the decision to launch the networking events to provide something more, give our members the chance to meet our team and connect with one another and, just as importantly, to express our thanks for their continued support as Affinity partners.”

Founded in 1975 by an ex-bank worker, Bill Munro, and operating from an unremarkable shop in the south Glasgow suburb of Barrhead with just one member of staff and a YTS, Barrhead Travel's first steps in the travel business were tentative and small. The firm successfully completed the acquisition of UK-based cruise agency ‘The Holiday Specialists’ in December 2012, a deal worth in the region of £3 million. In addition the company launched its first trade-focused sub-brand, Brilliant Travel in August 2013. The new brand will oversee expansion of its managed service branches, home-based travel advisors and corporate partnerships.
