CELEBRATE AFTERNOON TEA WEEK WITH A ‘GINSPIRATIONAL’ TEA IN THE CAPITAL
Wednesday, 15 August 2018
A unique restaurant at the heart of historic London is offering an indulgent afternoon tea inspired by one of Seething Lane’s most illustrious former residents – the perfect way to celebrate National Afternoon Tea Week (14-20 August 2018).
The Lampery at Apex City of London is offering a truly indulgent twist on the traditional British pastime in a nod to the restaurant’s patron, Samuel Pepys.
Featuring a selection of sumptuous savouries and sweet treats, The Lampery’s afternoon tea offers a decadent spread reminiscent of those enjoyed by Pepys and his numerous female companions. The menu includes green tea and gin-cured smoked salmon sandwiches and Gruyère savoury choux alongside buttermilk and juniper scones and moreish Pudding Lane Pastries.
Guests and locals alike can take tea for just £30 per person, including a choice of Birchall signature teas or herbal and fruit infusions and a gin-based bespoke afternoon tea cocktail.
The Orange Moll and Sheer Thrill have all been created and named with Pepys and his indulgent ways in mind, while the Duchess of Bedford pays homage to Anna the seventh Duchess of Bedford – who was responsible for introducing afternoon tea in England.
And the entire experience can be made even more luxurious with the addition of a chilled glass of Lanson Champagne for an extra £5, or Rosé Lanson Champagne for just £7.50.
Brian Tapson, General Manager of Apex City of London Hotel, said: “Afternoon tea is a British institution which has become an exceptionally popular, and stylish treat and The Lampery has put its own unique stamp on the classic tradition.
“What better way to celebrate Afternoon Tea Week than with a fabulously indulgent menu right in the heart of historic London. With the terrace area, and its stunning suspended foliage canopy and buzzing bar, it’s the perfect place to take tea with friends and family. We’re sure Samuel Pepys would approve of the celebrations.”
Afternoon Tea at The Lampery is served between 2pm and 6pm, seven days a week, and starts from just £30 per person. Bookings can be made by visiting thelampery.com or by calling 020 7977 9500.
