Celebs Awarded Orange Accolades For Fake Tan Faux Pas
Monday, 12 January 2009
Tantastic fakers Jodie Marsh and David Dickinson have been crowned as the UK's official Mr & Mrs Orange in a national poll to reveal the worst celebrity fake tan offenders!
The survey, conducted by easyJet, exposed the top 10 celebrities who lather on fake tan a little too often - turning a natural glow into distinctive shades of orange.
Over-enthusiastic fakers Jordan and Victoria Beckham, through to man tan favourites Peter Andre and Gavin Henson were all found guilty of taking their dedication to tanning to the extreme.
Two firm tangoed favourites caught the publics' attention, with both Mr & Mrs easyJet Orange 2008 receiving nearly half of all votes cast. Jodie Marsh's ginger glow and mahogany-effect David Dickinson both accounted for 46 per cent of the public vote.
Not to be outdone by her arch rival, Jordan received a respectable 30 per cent of the votes and Celebrity Big Brother housemate Michelle Heaton scooped 20 per cent, followed by wag Victoria Beckham with three per cent and the merely peachy Colleen Rooney paling into insignificance with just one per cent of the vote.
Over on the man tan leader board the competition was rife. Gavin Henson landed second place with 18 per cent of the vote.
Peter Andre also made it into the top ten along with his wife, taking joint third place with Frank Lampard and scooping 13 per cent of nominations. Simon Cowell walked away with last place receiving just 10 per cent of all polled results.
David Osborne, easyJet's Commercial General Manager for the UK, said: "We're hugely flattered that celebrities seem to have such affiliation to our brand colour!
"With a number of celebrities seemingly over-doing it with the fake tan we decided to officially launch the easyJet Orange awards as a sign of our appreciation of their colour!! We called in the public for their views to reveal the true orange King and Queen of 2008 and the response was overwhelming, it seems at this time of year everyone is looking for a little distraction from the cold weather and lack of suntan as a result!!"
Having been crowned Mr & Mrs easyJet Orange 2008, both Jodie Marsh and David Dickinson can enjoy a sunshine break compliments of the airline as a natural alternative to faking it. They are welcome to select a free flight of their choice from any new destinations such as London - Larnaca, Newcastle - Malta, Liverpool - Dubrovnik and Manchester - Corfu when they collect their crowns.
After overwhelming support from the public, easyJet has produced its very own tantastic colour chart for 'fakers' across the UK to keep tabs on their changing shade throughout 2009.
