Chance to meet reptiles to celebrate World Lizard Day
Wednesday, 08 August 2018
Visitors to Amazonia can meet some of its resident lizards as the tropical rainforest attraction celebrates World Lizard Day on 14th August.
Located within M&D’s Scotland’s Theme Park, Amazonia is home to several lizards, including the critically endangered turquoise dwarf gecko which is on the European Studbook breeding programme.
Amanda Gott, Zoo Manager at Amazonia, said: “As the school summer holidays draw to a close, why not treat the family to a fantastic day out learning lots about some of the lizards that can be found in the rainforests and also deserts of the world.
“Visitors can even have the chance to handle some of our lizards in our animal handling sessions, enabling them to take a closer look at these fascinating reptiles.”
Aside from its lizards, Amazonia is home to an array of exotic animals from tarantulas and snakes to monkeys and parrots and is Scotland’s only indoor tropical rainforest.
Amazonia is open between 10am and 6pm seven days a week and is situated within M&D’s, Scotland’s Theme Park. Further information can be found by visiting www.discoveramazonia.co.uk.
