The majority of companies are failing to exploit the commercial potential of the internet.
That's the view of Gordon Beattie, Founder of Beattie Communications Group and Only Marketing.
He said: "Companies which are exploiting the commercial potential of the internet are seeing their businesses grow - despite the recession.
"What shocks me is that four out of five companies are failing to cash-in on the web when it comes to brand development and driving sales.

"There is little value in having a website if it does not come up on Page 1 of Google for keyword searches.

"I would encourage other businesses to follow our lead and invest heavily in web marketing as the internet really is the perfect antidote for the recession."
