Countdown To Winter Olympics Begins Snozone

Monday, 02 November 2009

With only 100 days to go until the start of the 2010 Winter Olympics, athletes from across the UK are stepping up their preparations for the big event.

British hopefuls for the Winter Games, which begin in Vancouver on 12 February next year, include snowboarders Zoe Gillings and Dom Harrington, and the UK's top rated disabled skier Sean Rose.  These athletes are part of the SNO!zone Stars programme, which invests in Olympians or potential future Olympians by committing resources, expertise and knowledge to their development.

Regis Mosseron, Managing Director of SNO!zone, the UK's only chain of indoor real snow slopes, explained: "SNO!zone is dedicated to providing the best indoor real snow experience throughout the UK and providing a training environment that can bring on the UK's best talent, as well as being a place for beginners to develop a taste for the sport.

"We're very excited to see how well young athletes such as Zoe Gillings and Dom Harrington, and UK's top disabled snowsports athletes , Sean Rose and Jo Willoughby are doing in the run up to the Games - all achieving great results so far this season.

We wish them the best of luck, and hopefully we'll be cheering them on in Vancouver in February."

As well as financial support, SNO!zone's Stars are able to access SNO!zone's slopes for training throughout the year.

As part of their Road to Vancouver campaign, Eurosport in the UK has also teamed up with SNO!zone to become their official broadcast partner for the Winter Olympics.  The channel will work with the team at SNO!zone as part of their extensive snowsport programming campaign in the run up to the Games.

PY Gerbeau, SNO!zone Chairman and ex-Winter Olympian added: "The partnership with Eurosport is a very exciting one for SNO!zone.  We are delighted by their interest in our young Stars, and look forward to working with them as the Winter Olympics gets ever nearer."
