Days out for the whole family at Bowhill

Wednesday, 14 August 2019

Families across the Borders and beyond are being invited to step forward for two special summer walks later this month.

Bowhill House and Grounds will host its first ever ‘Pram-ble’ on Monday 26th August, which will see walkers amble together through Bowhill’s stunning grounds with their prams and buggies in tow. And, on Saturday 31st August, dog owners and their fur babies will be welcomed for a mass dog walk.

Michael Paton, Learning and Engagement Ranger at Bowhill House and Grounds, said: “Our grounds and trails are very popular with families and dog walkers, and we wanted to create some special events with them in mind, which would enable them to come together in the beautiful surroundings of Bowhill.

“Our summer opening season is in full flow and, from family photography competitions to nature trails and historic House tours, there really is something for the whole family to enjoy here at Bowhill House and Grounds.”

Tickets for the ‘Pram-ble’ cost £3.50 per adult, and include a free scone and hot drink at the Minstrel Tearoom. The walk will take place between 10am - 11.30am on Monday 26th August. Booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.

Entry to Bowhill’s grounds for the Mass Dog Walk is priced at £5.50 for adults, £4.50 for concessions and children aged 3-16, while under-3s go free. Family passes for up to two adults and two children is just £18. The walk will set off at 11am on Saturday 31st August from the Courtyard, and walkers are asked to keep their four-legged friends on a lead during the event.

The walks will take place during the Estate’s summer opening season, when visitors can enjoy a variety of events for the whole family as part of Bowhill’s Summer of Fun calendar. Find out more at www.bowhillhouse.co.uk/events.

Bowhill House is open for tours 1-31 August and 26-27 October, with the grounds and exhibition open daily throughout August and open Friday to Sunday 1-29 September.
