Dept Health Procurement Expert Joins Finnamore
Thursday, 07 May 2009
Health specialist Finnamore Management Consultants has appointed Sean Kelleher, one of the Department of Health's leading specialists on procurement, to head up its newly founded commercial services division.
Mr Kelleher, who led the Department of Health's multi-million pound Central Clinical Procurement Programme (CCPP) has now joined Finnamore's consultancy team to significantly strengthen its procurement and public/private investment expertise.
The move is particularly timely for Finnamore, in light of the Chancellor's recent budget expectations and the efficiency savings that the NHS is now collectively required to make.
He said: "Health authorities are being asked to make savings by improving efficiency through better commercial procurements but there are potential pitfalls that come with making changes.
"All changes have to be thought out in terms of the long term benefits and possible negative outcomes. That's why good planning and commercial expertise are so important when it comes to evaluating efficient spending.
"As a specialist healthcare management consultancy Finnamore has first rate knowledge of the NHS - how it works, the difficulties that SHAs face - and by joining a private sector company I am now in a position to work with more of the NHS's organisations to make their procurement more efficient and commercial in the long term."
