Easter egg-stravaganza at Dalkeith Country Park

Wednesday, 05 April 2017

Visitors to Dalkeith Country Park this Easter are in for a treat with a selection of fun-filled events taking place across the long weekend.

Between Friday 14 and Monday 17 April (10am to 4pm), youngsters can take part in the Park’s Easter egg hunt with hundreds of eggs hidden around Fort Douglas playground. Children can then exchange the eggs for a delicious chocolate version.

The egg-cellent activities are free with the purchase of entry to Fort Douglas (priced £3 for three to five year-olds and £5 for six to 12 year-olds, under twos go free of charge).

A special Easter activity tent will also be located within Fort Douglas, offering face painting and crafts. Archery sessions (suitable for ages 6 and over) will also be available between 11am and 3pm for those who would like to try their hand at the ancient sport (15 minute session costs £5).

Fort Douglas visitors will also have the chance to try out brand new equipment this Easter including a toddler tractor track and agility course. There are also new steps making it easier for parents to meet their children at the bottom of the slide, additional seating, new signage and two new custom-designed horse box tickets and refreshment booths.

Andrew Elmer, Visitor Services Manager at Dalkeith Country Park, said: “If you drop by Fort Douglas this Easter you are in for an egg-stra special treat with our brand new track which will be ready for toddlers to take our fleet of John Deere mini-tractors out for a spin.

“We’re always listening to feedback from visitors which has helped shape this latest investment to make the Park even better for families. We are sure all who visit Dalkeith Country Park this Easter will have a fun-filled time.”

As well as its usual programme of classes, Restoration Yard’s Wellbeing Lab will be hosting an Easter Yoga Egg-stravagansa on Saturday, 15 April between 10 and 11am. The workshop for children (aged 4 to 11) will include egg painting and a host of Easter-themed yoga fun.

The workshop costs £6 per child and can be booked by emailing hello@katywakefield.co.uk

For those who cannot wait until Easter weekend, youngsters can take part in a series of Relax Kids classes taking place in Wellbeing Lab during the school holidays between 4 and 6 April from 9.30am to 12pm.

The sessions (£12 per day or £33 for all three days) are aimed at primary school children and help support children’s mental and emotional well-being and build confidence and self-esteem. Bookings can be made via www.facebook.com/relaxkidsnwedinburgh
