easyJet Makes Glasgow to Palma Flights All-year-round

Thursday, 02 August 2012

easyJet, Scotland's largest airline, has today announced that it will make its Glasgow - Palma flights all year round from the end of October this year. The two-hour direct service from Glasgow to Majorca has been extended due to the popularity of the summer schedule with easyJet's Glasgow customers.

The summer service which currently operates twice a week - on Wednesdays and Saturdays - was scheduled to run until October 29 this year however easyjet has taken the decision to introduce a winter service from October 30. Flights are now on sale for the twice weekly flights with fares starting from £29.99 (one way including taxes).

Hugh Aitken, easyJet's commercial manager for Scotland, said: "The Glasgow to Palma service has been a popular summer route offering holidaymakers the option of a city-break or a leisurely beach holiday.

"As part of our continued strategy to enhance choice for Scottish customers on the most popular destinations in Europe, we have identified an opportunity to extend this route to offer year-round sun.

"We now fly on 16 routes from Glasgow Airport with the extension of this service further strengthening our commitment to the city of Glasgow, as well as helping us to make air travel easy and affordable for our growing customer base in the leisure and business sectors."

There are nearly 3,000 winter flights on sale from Glasgow, giving passengers the best fares early with almost 500,000 seats available for travel from the airport from October 30 2012 through to March 24 2013.

Hugh Aitken added: "Our winter schedule from Scotland's largest city enables us to meet the needs of all of our passengers, offering a comprehensive choice of low-fare destinations."

Francois Bourienne, Glasgow Airport's commercial director, said: "Majorca has always been a popular destination from Glasgow Airport and the feedback we have received from travel agents and customers, particularly those with second homes, is that the demand is there for scheduled flights during the winter months.

"We are therefore delighted that easyJet will be serving Palma from Glasgow Airport all year round. This is a great example of an airline taking into account the needs of its customers, identifying new opportunities and stepping up to the mark. We will work closely with easyJet to ensure this new service gets off to a great start this winter."
